Electric two- and three-way control valves for throttling, mixing and distribution of liquid, gas and vapor media are used in heat supply systems, the inertia of which is not so critical. The advantage of this type of control valves is smooth regulation, and the disadvantage is the low speed of opening and closing.

Drive control valves are an actuating device, which requires a logic unit – a "controller", which is more common among automatons under the name "regulator". The controller, receiving a signal from the sensors, working according to the algorithm embedded in it, changes the control signal received by the actuator – a control valve with a drive, which, in turn, changes the position of the regulating body, changes the flow rate of the working medium.
Electric control valves have the possibility of more precise adjustment due to the feedback provided by the positioner.
